England and South Africa are very similar kind of times. Relies heavily on their batting and fast bowling and always had good set of all rounders in their team.

Lets look at how both teams performed against each other in the biggest of tournament, the World Cup. –

1) Benson & Hedges 1992 World Cup – England won the 28th match of Benson & Hedges World Cup by 3 wickets.

Batting first, South Africa made just 235 runs for loss of 4 wickets. None of their batsman played with good strike rate.

2) Wills World Cup 1996 – South Africa revenged this time against South Africa and too with a massive win of 78 runs.

Batting first, South Africa made 230 runs, and at the half way stage it looked like it will be England’s game but South African bowlers had other plans as they bundled out England to just a score of 152 runs.

3) ICC World Cup 1999 – South African once again gave South Africa a win by huge margin of 122 runs as England only managed to get to 103 runs in reply to SouthAfrica 225 runs.

Allan Donlad was the pick of the bowlers as he bagged 4 for 17 in his 8 overs.

4) ICC World Cup 2007 – South Africa once again got the better of England as they won by 9 wickets.

England batted first but their batting collpased only to make 154 runs.

4) ICC World Cup 2011 – England said its enough and its there time to win as once again we got to watch a low scoring thriller between the teams.

England batting first only got to 171 runs and South Africa must have thought its their game to loose and they did exactly that.

Stuart Broad took 4 wickets and South Africa was all out for 165 runs with 14 balls remaining.
That was such a disappointing performance from proteas.

5) ICC World Cup 2019 – England was a much improved team in 2019 and they the 1st match of ICC World Cup 2019 by huge margin of 104 runs.

England got no where close to SouthAfrica’s 311 runs.
