Chennai Super Kings underwent a change in captaincy when MS Dhoni handed the captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad on the eve of the opening match of the tournament. It marked the beginning of a new era for the Super Kings. Having said that many experts were of the opinion that although Dhoni is not officially the captain of the team he will be the one who will be controlling things on the field which was evident during the opening match against RCB where Dhoni was seen setting the fields following which former players like Suresh Raina and Virender Sehwag were seen taking a dig at the decision “Is Gaikwad actually the captain?” they said Albeit in a hilarious way
Deja Vu
A similar thing happened in the next match against Gujarat Titans which made former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar question Deepak Chahar on who he looks at for field placement to which Chahar replied “I got to look at Mahi (MSD) bhai and at Ruturaj – both of them these days for field placements and all. So there is a bit of a confusion where to look now but Ruturaj is doing well and he is leading the way.”
