England and Newzealand will clash on 5th of october in the inaugural match of World Cup 2023.
While both teams are equally capable and can challenge each other in all aspects, not to forget the World cup 2019 final which went down to the haywire, lets look at the result of last 5 World Cup matches between England and Newzealand –
1) 2019 ICC World Cup – Everyone knows what happened in the ICC World Cup 2019 final. Match tied, superover tied to only declare England as winner on the basis of more boundaries. Ben Strokes was the Man of the Match.
2) 2015 ICC World Cup – The 2015 World Cup match of Pool A in Wellington was humiliation for England as they were bowled out for 123 runs in 33 overs. Tim Southee totally dismantled England with his 7 wickets, and Newzealand easily won the match in 12 overs for the loss of 2 wickets.
3) 2007 World Cup – In the 6th match of 2007 World Cup, Newzealand once again got the better of English batsman.
Batting first, England just couldn’t get going and was bundled for meagre 209 runs.
Newzealand chased it easily in 41 overs, thanks to Scott Styris 87 not out.
4) 1996 Wills World Cup – You must be thinking its England turn now to win, but once again its Newzealand who won the 1st match of the World Cup played at Ahmedabad.
Nathan Astle scored a century at the top of the order to took Newzealand to 239 runs which were just enough for English batsman as they managed to get to only 228 runs.
5) 1983 Prudential World Cup – In the 60 over format, England won the 1st match of the World Cup against Kiwis by significant margin of 106 runs. England made 322 runs in 60 overs and in reply Newzealand only managed to make 216 runs.
