Know about players in USA T20 World Cup team

The upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 holds significant importance as it marks the first time the USA and the Caribbean will co-host the tournament, with the USA men’s cricket team participating as hosts. Despite cricket’s long history in the US dating back to the 18th century, the sport has faced challenges in gaining widespread popularity. However, recent years have seen promising developments, thanks in part to coach Kevin Darlington’s efforts. The current squad boasts talented players like Monank Patel, Milind Kumar and Aaron Jones, offering hope for a strong showing on home soil. As hosts, the USA Cricket Team has automatically qualified for the ICC T20 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2024. 

1. Monank Patel (Captain) – Monank Patel, hailing from Anand, Gujarat, is a dynamic cricketer poised to lead Team USA in the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Despite his modest international record of 267 runs in 20 matches at an average of 17.80, Patel brings leadership and experience to the squad. 

2. Aaron Jones (VC) – Aaron Jones, a prominent cricketer from the United States, has been appointed as the vice-captain for the national team. With a T20I career encompassing 19 matches and 289 runs at an average of 26.27, Jones possesses the potential to be a match-winner for his team. 

3. Andries Gous – Andries Gous, the talented South African wicketkeeper-batsman known for his impressive performances, has been selected to join the national USA cricket team. Although he has not yet played any T20I matches for the USA, Gous has gained valuable experience by participating in T20 leagues around the world.

4. Corey Anderson – Corey Anderson, the former New Zealand all-rounder, has become eligible to play for the USA national team following his move to America and participation in the Major League Cricket (MLC). Anderson, known for his explosive batting and left-arm pace bowling, showcased exceptional form in Minor League Cricket (MiLC), amassing over 900 runs across 28 innings at an impressive strike rate of 146. 

5. Gajanand Singh – Gajanand Singh is an exciting left-handed batter from Guyana who now plays for the United States national cricket team. He initially represented the West Indies under-19 cricket team at the 2006 U-19 Cricket World Cup before transitioning to represent the USA. 

6. Harmeet Singh – Harmeet Singh is an Indian-American cricketer who has made significant contributions to the sport, having previously played for Mumbai and Tripura in India before moving to the United States to participate in Minor League Cricket. Notably, he was part of the India Under-19 cricket team that competed in the 2012 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. 

7. Jessy Singh – Jessy Singh, a right-arm medium pacer representing the USA cricket team, achieved an early milestone in his senior career by claiming a hat-trick during the inaugural American Cricket Federation National Championship held in Los Angeles in October 2012. 

8. Milind Kumar – Milind Kumar is an Indian professional cricketer known for his contributions to Delhi and Sikkim in domestic cricket. Notably, he has also featured in the IPL for Delhi Daredevils in 2014 and for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 2019. Milind is recognized as a talented right-handed batter capable of playing significant innings. 

9. Nisarg Patel – Nisarg Patel is a left-arm orthodox batting all-rounder with a diverse cricketing background. Known for his exceptional ability to turn the ball more than most finger spinners, Patel has been a standout performer in domestic competitions.

10. Nitish Kumar – Nitish Kumar is a prominent Canadian-American cricketer who previously served as the captain of the national team. Known for his consistent performances in T20Is, Nitish Kumar has accumulated 434 runs in 18 matches at an impressive average of 31. 

11. Noshtush Kenjige – Noshtush Kenjige, originally from Atlanta but having honed his cricket skills in Bangalore, India, has emerged as a talented left-arm orthodox spinner. His exceptional control over flight and ability to generate turn have earned him a spot in the T20 World Cup squad.

12. Saurabh Netravalkar – Saurabh Netravalkar, a tall left-arm fast bowler, previously represented India Under-19s and was India’s highest wicket-taker in the 2010 Under-19 World Cup. Known for his efficient action and the ability to swing the ball both ways, Netravalkar will be a key pacer for the USA in the T20 World Cup. 

13. Shadley Van Schalkwyk – Shadley van Schalkwyk is a South African-American cricketer who plays as a left-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler. He is currently associated with teams like Seattle Thunderbolts and Los Angeles Knight Riders.

14. Steven Taylor – Steven Taylor is a talented cricketer who made his U.S. Senior debut at the age of 15, showcasing his exceptional abilities from a young age. He is known for his stature and powerful build, excelling as an opening batsman. 

15. Usman Rafiq – Usman Rafiq has earned his place in the national team by consistently performing well in club cricket and demonstrating a strong work ethic and positive attitude. His impressive performances with the bat have caught the attention of selectors. Rafiq is also a skilled off-spin bowler, which adds value to the team’s bowling options.
