Vinod Kambli – The left handed batter who is also a childhood friend of Sachin Tendulkar first gained the limelight for a 664 run partnership in a school match along with Sachin. After scoring loads of runs in domestic cricket he was selected in the Indian team as well but he had a short career due to various reasons. He was also a part of the 1996 World Cup squad. In 2015 a case was registered against Vinod Kambli and his wife for assaulting their maid. The maid alleged that she was beaten up by Kambli and was also not paid her salary.She also alleged that she was abused by the couple. An FIR was registered against Kambli and he was booked under IPC section 34,342,506 and 504.
Amit Mishra – The right arm leg spinner who has an unbroken record of 3 IPL hat tricks has also been to jail. In 2015 prior to the India V/s South Africa series he was taken into custody by Bengaluru Police on charges of assault on a woman. A woman accused him of assaulting her in a hotel room. He was booked under IPC sections 354 and 328. He was interrogated by the Police for 3 hours and was later released on bail. But he was still part of the squad for the South Africa series.
S Sreesanth – The right arm pacer from Kerala who was part of 2007 World cup winning squad made a huge name for himself by giving impressive performances. It was during 2013 when his involvement with bookies regarding the spot fixing in IPL matches resulted in a lifetime ban by BCCI. He was found guilty of committing spot fixing in an IPL match and was arrested for a month in Tihar Jail. The ban was later reduced to 7 years. His ban was lifted in 2020 and he has also started playing for Kerala in Domestic tournaments. He now looks to make a comeback in the IPL as well.
Navjot Singh Sidhu – The right handed opener who was famous for his counter attacking batting against spinners was a regular member of Indian Team in early 90s. In 1998 he was accused of culpable homicide. The victim was a resident of Patiala who was beaten up by Sidhu following a road rage incident. The victim was taken to hospital and was declared dead. In 1999 Sidhu was acquitted by the court but 7 years later the charges were brought up once again and this time it was for murder. He was found guilty of murder and was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment . He challenged the verdict in the Supreme Court which granted him bail but stayed his sentence. He has also been a Member of Parliament from Amritsar.
Suresh Raina – The left handed middle order batter who was popular for his fielding skills has also been to jail. In December 2020 he was arrested for violating COVID-19 protocols by partying in DragonFly club in Mumbai. Along with him 34 other people were arrested when Police raided the place for violating Covid norms. Guru Randhawa, famous Punjabi singer was also present in that party and was arrested as well. They were taken into custody by the Mumbai Police and were later released on bail.
