India hope to find new Ganguly, Yashasvi Jaiswal to open in Test

Jaiswal 1

Yashashvi Jaiswal is all set to play his first test match against WestIndies tomorrow. Captain Rohit Sharma has confirmed that Jaiswal will accompany him at opening position, while Gill slides to number 3 , after a discussion with coach Dravid.

The Indian test call up and then finally arriving the D-day for Jaiswal has not been a overnight journey , but of years of hardwork and turmoil.

Having lived in tent, and no family in Mumbai, Jaiswal was born in SuriyawanBhadohi, Uttar Pradesh, as the fourth of six children, to Bhupendra Jaiswal, owner of a small hardware store.

At the age of ten, he moved to DadarMumbai, to receive cricket training at Azad Maidan. As Dadar was far away from the Maidan, he relocated to the Kalbadevi neighbourhood where he was given accommodation in a dairy shop in return for low-grade work. He was eventually ejected by the shopkeeper as he was unable to provide much help at the shop between his cricket training and lived in a tent with the groundsmen at the Maidan, where he sold panipuri to make ends meet.

Jaiswal debuted in IPL 2020. It took him 3 IPL season to turn the selectors head but never a better time when the World Cup is around the corner, that too in India.

His blistering performance in IPL with a century and 5 half centuries all coming at havoc strike rate, meant the call to Indian team was just around the corner. With KL Rahul missing most of his opportunities, it was an easy call for selectors to try the southpaw against the WestIndies.

We will have to wait on how he carry his career forward at international level, for now we wish him all the best to cherish this once in lifetime moment and to score loads of runs for team India.
