All you need to know about Kwena Mphaka, 17 year old debutant of Mumbai Indians

1) Kwena Mphaka is Southafrican left arm fast bowler. His age as of now is only 17.

2)He came into limelight in the recent u19 World Cup which India lost in the final. Mphaka took 3 5 wicket hauls in the tournament. One of them was a 6 wicket haul. In total he took 21 wickets at an average of 9.71.

3)He was not sold in the IPL auction happened in December 2024, but an untimely hamstring injury to Dilshun Madhushanka made way for the 17 year old to experience IPL at such an early age.

4)Kwena Mphaka joined Mumbai Indians at his base price of 50 lakhs, while Madhushanka who got injured was sold at whopping 4.6 crores in IPL auction.

5)He is all set to debut against SRH on 27 March 2024. He is 9th youngest player to debut in IPL history.

6)He also won the “U19 Cricket World Cup Player of the Tournament” for his heroic performances.

7)Alan Donald is right behind the young fast bowler. In a interview he said

“Kwena has the opportunity now to showcase his skills at the biggest tournament on the planet, and we all wish him well and want him to succeed. This kid has got the talent and the skill to play first up and is the sort of guy that you will have in the IPL and back him to be in your starting lineup.”

While Kwena Mphaka has certainly got talent but its all about nerves when it comes to showcase what you have got at the biggest of stage like IPL.
