New Zealand had a forgetful campaign in the on going World Cup T20.

After being thrashed by Afghanistan by 84 runs, and a 13 runs defeat in a low scoring game against the West Indies, New Zealand has nothing to play for the qualification, but all for respect when they turned up against Papua New Guinea on Monday.

Papua New Guinea batted first and got to 78 runs in 19.4 overs. While every New Zealand bowler impressed with his bowling, it was the moustache man of the New Zealand who took all the highlight as he bowled 4 overs without conceding a run and sent 3 of the Papua New Guinea batsman to the dugout.

Here is the ball by ball spell by Lockie Fergusan

Another New Zealand bowler Trent Boult also impressed with his figures of 2 for 14 in 4 overs.

While Lockie Fergusan can be available for the next T20 World Cup in 2026, the veteran Trent Boult at the age of 34 has declared that its his last World Cup assignment and he will double up on the franchise cricket for the financial reasons as he is already 34.

As for the next adventure of Black Caps, they will be hosting England in November for the test series, but certainly there will be more cricket before which has not been officially updated.

New Zealand management also will have to reevaluate their strategy for the shortest of format and that means some under performing players may come under the radar. It will also be interesting to see whether they will still likely to continue with Kane Williamson as their captain in the shortest of format.
