1)Prayas Ray Barman was picked up by RCB in 2019 IPL season for 1.5 crores. He was 16 years, 157 days old on 31 March 2019, making him the youngest ever to play IPL. He is still the youngest to play IPL ever.
2)He debuted against Sunrisers hyderabad. Sunrisers both opening batsman David Warner and Johny Bairstow scored century as Sunrisers hyderabad set a impossible target of 231 runs for RCB.
Prayas Ray Barman also was taken under the radar as the inexperience leg spinner went for 56 runs in his 4 overs without picking a wicket. That was his last game for RCB in that season. He is yet to play for any other franchise.
The other leg spinner in the squad Chahal also gave away 44 runs for a wicket in his 4 overs.
3)He was the highest wicket taker in 2018-2019 Vijay Hazare Trophy, picking up 11 wickets in 9 matches and that set the auction war between RCB and Kings 11, finally RCB taking him home at a whopping prize of 1.5 cr at the age of 16.
5)He plays domestic cricket for Bengal. He has not played any Vijay Hazare match after 2019 and has played 7 T20s match in 5 seasons when each state team plays 6-7 matches per season says that opportunities are getting less for Prayas but he got a match in last year 2023-2024 Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy where he bowled economically with 24 runs for no wicket in his 4 overs. He certainly is not totally out of contention of Cricket Bengal as he is getting the opportunity here and there but its indeed a tough road ahead of tall leg spinner after a magical start to his career, but he is still young and can turn the fortunes to his side by hard work.
Though Durgapur born has seen both sides of his cricket career in mere age of 21, getting picked up by RCB at 1.5cr and even get to play match but the success as cricketer is yet to follow and Prayas is working hard in domestic cricket to turn the eyes of IPL talent scouts, one more time. He has got all the time in the World.
