1)Shoaib Malik, 39 years:- The Pakistan all rounder who recently married for the second time to Pakistan actress Sana Javed was among the some of the senior players picked for the 2021 T20 World Cup in Dubai.
He had superb campaign for Pakistan in the World Cup and even scored a half century in the 5 games he played.
2)Mohammad Hafeez, 41 years :- The Professor from Pakistan who had a short stint recently with Pakistan cricket board as director featured for his team in 2021 t20 world cup at the young age of 41.
Hafeez had a decent outing in the middle with the bat and featured in 5 matches.
3)Chris Gayle, 42 years:– The Jamaican cricketer who has played 79 T20 internationals for West Indies with a strike rate of 137, just less than of Virat Kohli, featured in 2021 T20 World Cup at the age of 42 years along with other veterans like Dwayne Bravo under the captainship of current Mumbai Indians batting coach Kieron Pollard.
The Universe boss didn’t have that great outing in the World Cup as he had in his T20 career overall with just 45 runs in 5 games.
4)Brad Hogg, 43 years :- The most successful chinaman bowler cricket has ever seen Brad Hogg featured for Australian side in 2014 World Cup at the age of 43 years.
The veteran featured in an alone match against Pakistan in the World Cup which saw Sril anka defeating India in finals. He bowled 3 overs for 29 runs and didn’t get another game in the tournament.
In fact, that turned out to be his last game T20 international game but he continued playing in BBL till the age of 46.
5)Ryan Campbell :- The former Australian cricketer who represented both Australia and Hongkong internationally turned out to play for Hongkong for the 2016 T20 World Cup at the humble age of 44.
He is currently enjoying his stint with Durham, England as head coach.
With T20 game comprising of only 90 minutes per side, the fitness demands of the T20 game can be little lesser than playing a 50 over World Cup.
Dinesh Karthik though has been a fit cricketer all his career and with the type of form he is showing and skills tailor made for T20 matches, it will be interesting to see if the selection squad consisting of captain Rohit Sharma, Rahul Dravid and the man behind the resurgence of Avesh Khan international career, Ajit Agarkar will give a thought about the Chennai born wicketkeeper.
