3 Reasons why Rinku Singh should have been picked instead of Suryakumar Yadav in Asia cup

1) Poor form – While the 360 degree as the Indians fans call him, had good T20I record so far, in 24 innings of 26 ODIS, he has dismissible average of 24 with a highest score of 64. And he always have all the time in the world to play as he comes to bat at number 4 position.

There are just 2 50s in 24 innings, that means 22 times he has failed at the international level and that is a very big number. Adds to it, he doesn’t bowl or is a superb fielder like Rinku Singh.

Rinku Singh have shown he is man made of nerves of steel and as Kiran More said he could be the finisher like M S Dhoni for India.

If you look at him, his game, there is this certainty that he is made for the big matches and big moments. Not everyone can hit 5 sixes while chasing.

2) Not learning from mistakes – It looks quite good when you play different shots and they come in T20I but ODI is different ball game. If needed you will have to score 3 runs of 20 balls if team is struggling.

It looks like Suryakumar Yadav doesn’t have the composure to play the 50 overs format.

In 3 ODI series against Australia, he was out first ball duck in all the 3 matches, and in the first two ODI, he was out in the similar fashion which implies he doesn’t learn from mistakes fast as he has failed in 22 innings out of 24.

3) Shreyas Iyer is fit – Now Shreyas Iyer is fully fit to play the limited overs cricket and he had done so well for India at number 4 position.

In 38 innings he has average of 46.6 with 2 100s and 14 50s, that means he has scored more than 50 runs in almost half of the innings he has played.

With number 4 position booked for Shreyas Iyer and Tilak Varma also being included in the squad, the number 4 position is overcrowded and instead of selecting SuryaKumar Yadav, Indian team should have selected Rinku Singh and could have tried him in few games as a finisher.
