Chennai Super Kings had a fixed player for wicketkeeping for the last decade and that is their captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
With Dhoni already at 42, Chennai Super Kings talent scouts have some work to do, which is to find a great replacement for the M.S Dhoni. Its very difficult to find a player and captain of calibre as Dhoni, but their talent scouts have been working hard watching all the domestic cricket, connecting with umpires, grass root cricket and whatever can be done to not miss out on any rare talent.
Of all the available options in IPL auction 2024, with Delhi capitals swapping away all the young wicketkeepers of the country, they were lucky to land their hands on Aravelly Avanish Rao.
The 18 year old left handed wicketkeeper from hyderabad comes with hard hitting ability.
In the Vinoo Mankad trophy, which is state level u19 competition, he smashed 274 runs in 8 innings at a strike rate of 148, the highest among all players who scored at least 200+.
With great performances in Vinoo Mankad trophy, he got his chance to debut in Vijay Hazare trophy too, in the last year.
He also played against Australia u19 team in the month of february.
While its too early in the cricket career for Avanish Aravelly Rao, but he certainly has got clean striking abilities and with some years spent in CSK camp, we may see him playing in coming IPL editions.
For now, you can enjoy his crispy hard hitting, not bad for 18 year old.
