WPL 2024 is just around the corner. With the successful first season in 2023, the second edition of Women IPL is going to commence from 23 Feb, with final on 17 March.
There are 5 teams that will be playing in the second edition of Women IPL. Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Up Warriorz.
The teams in total have 14 players from Australia, 7 players from England, 4 from South Africa, 2 each from New zealand and West Indies and 1 from USA.
Recently the Srilankan captain Chamari Athapaththu who was surprisingly not picked in the auction has joined UP Warriorz.
While there are players from all ages, lets look at the top 3 youngest players who will be playing Women IPL 2024 at such a young age:-
1)Shabnam MD ( Gujarat Giants) :-
Shabnam MD at just 16 years of age will be donning the jersey of Gujarat Giants. With such a impressive record at India u-19, with 9 wickets in 9 matches, she will certainly want to exploit the precious opportunity at such a young age with her medium pace bowling.
2)Parshavi Chopra (17 years) ( UP Warriorz) :–
Not a first season for Prashavi Chopra as she impressed with 3 wickets in 4 matches in WPL 2023 too, she will certainly look forward to play more matches and give more contribution as she now has some experience in her pocket.
3)Titas Sidhu :-
The most popular of all, the 19 year old Titas Sidhu who has a good start to her T20I career with 8 wickets in 7 matches and 4 wickets against Australia not a long time ago, she will certainly be the main bowler for Delhi Capitals who will fancy their chances this time.
Women IPL is certainly a great platform for young girls from all over the country and with its first season in 2023, cricket academies in India have already seen surge in female cricketers joining in a dream to play for the country.
