Life can be long, but it can be short but there is only one way to live it right is to live everyday to the full.
Died at the young age of 41, we are talking about most accomplished fast bowlers of the modern era, we are talking about Malcom Marshall.
Malcom Marshall was a WestIndies fast bowler who didn’t stand very tall at 5 foot 11 inches but his action was tailor made for a fast bowler. He used to get good bounce from the pitch and opponent batsman used to fear him for that.
376 wickets in 81 matches with a impressive bowling average of just 20.94, the number tells how good Malcom Marshall was.
He debuted in 1978 at the age of 20 against India in bengaluru and played his last match in 1992 World Cup. He also played considerable amount of ODI cricket and claimed 157 wickets in 136 matches.
After his cricketing career, he joined as coach for WestIndies in 1996 but in 1999 he was diagnosed with colon cancer.
He married his long time girlfriend in september and then died in november 1999, things just happened so fast for him.
Just before 2 months before his death, he once played a golf with his friends and was in pain but he said to his friends that will score the last 5 shots and he did them.
On asking how did he do it?. He pointed to his head and said its all there, I believed it, I did it .
A great bowler, maybe the best in test cricket would have served cricket for longer period of time but as they good while it lasted.
