A five-wicket haul in an innings by a bowler has the same or even more importance when compared to a century scored by a batter. Now If a person manages to do both for his team then it is the true all-round show by that player as he has given his all and he couldn’t be asked for anything more. In this article we will discuss those players who have managed to achieve this in ODIs.
1. Sir Vivian Richards – The West-Indian legend whose mere presence on the crease was sufficient to scare the opposition. Viv used to hammer the opposition bowlers as he batted at a strike rate of 90 in those days. He also used to bowl right arm off-break and has more than 100 wickets in ODIs.In a match against New Zealand in 1987, Viv created history as he became the 1st cricketer to score a ton and take 5 wickets in the same match. He scored 119 and finished his bowling with figures of 5/41. West Indies easily won that match by 95 runs hugely because of Viv.
2. Paul Collingwood – The English all-rounder who represented England in more than 190 matches was an asset for his team. With his fitness he remained a part of the team for many years. England won its 1st ICC trophy under his leadership in 2010. In a match against Bangladesh in 2007 Natwest Series , Paul did something unbelievable. He scored 112* on 86 balls and took 6 wickets for 31 runs. With 395 runs on board, Bangladesh found it extremely hard to chase that score and ultimately fell short by 168 runs. Paul became Man of the Match for his marvelous performance.
3. Rohan Mustafa – The former captain of UAE is an opening batter and also bowls right arm off-spin. He was born in Pakistan but soon shifted to Sharjah. In 2017 in a match against Papua New Guinea, Rohan added his name to an unique list of players. He scored 109 off 125 balls and also took 5 wickets for 25 runs, thus becoming only the 3rd player in the world to score a ton and take 5 wickets in the same match. UAE easily won the match by 103 runs and Rohan became Man of the Match.
4. Amelia Kerr – The humongously talented all-rounder from New Zealand Women’s team is the only female cricketer to achieve this milestone. In a match against Ireland in 2018 at Dublin, she smashed 232* on 146 balls, the highest individual score in ODIs and also became the 1st women player to score a double century in ODIs. She also took 5 wickets for 17 runs making things even worse for Ireland. New Zealand scored 440 in 50 overs while Ireland got all out on just 135 runs and suffered a humiliating defeat.
5. Bas de Leede – The latest addition to this elite list is Dutch cricketer Bas de Leede, who put on 123 runs with bat and 5 wickets with bowl to help Netherland secure a flight to play World Cup in India later this year. This was his first century in the 30 ODI he has played.
