1)RCB started well, but that is not the problem for them, the problem is middle overs and finishing, 2 quick back to back wickets and RCB were on backfoot again.
2) Kohli didn’t have great return to the cricket. 20 of 21 balls and he got out when the team needed him to get going. He will look to score big and also at quick rate in coming matches.
3)Biggest positive for RCB is the partnership between Anuj Rawat and Dinesh Karthik. Anuj is an attacking cricketer and Dinesh Karthik also will want to play some good innings in the last IPL season. With Anuj and Dinesh at 6 and 7, if one of Green, Maxwell and Patidar fires in middle over then RCB will be in driving seat.
4)RCB success this season depends lot on Rajat Patidar. If Rajat can play some good innings then RCB will certainly have an edge as one of Kohli, Du Plessis and Maxwell is sure to fire on one day and Dinesh and Anuj can finish the games. They also have talented Mahipal Lomror who also gives them an attacking option.
5)After letting go of Chahal, RCB is still to fill that void. Karn Sharma had a below average last season. They can give chance to young Himanshu Sharma early in the tournament too on how he has developed over a year. He played the eliminator last year and after that played some matches in Rajasthan Premier League.
6)Ruturaj is the new captain for CSK and he certainly will be feeling the pressure with Dhoni on field as a player.
7)Devon Convoy had an average last season and with Rachin Ravindran starting tournament on high with 37 runs from 15 balls, the injury of Devon Convoy turned out to be blessing in disguise for CSK. The batting looks formidable with Daryl Mitchell, Rahane, Dube, Jadeja, Dhoni , Rizvi, Deepak Chahar and two quality openers.
8)CSK also has something to worry about in form of Tushar Despande. With Pathirana not available, they will have to evaluate what are their options. That is the only weak link for them as of now.
9)RCB squad certainly not looking like it can win the tournament and some players certainly have to level up. They have Lockie Fergusan also who bowls with good mind and can be tried as soon as possible.
10)Deepak Chahar has done some change in his bowling action. The arm is going little higher but it has not worked for him in this opening game and he was looking completely ineffective when Du Plessis was taking him to bonkers.
