The swashbuckling left hander Yuvraj Singh has plenty of records in his name for his batting prowess but who would have known that he also has claimed a hat-trick in IPL. In this article we will take a look at all the IPL Hat-tricks.
IPL 2008 – The inaugural edition of IPL witnessed the right arm medium fast bowler, Lakshimapthy Balaji of CSK claiming a hat-trick against Kings XI Punjab at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai by dismissing Irfan Pathan, Piyush Chawla and VRV Singh.
The right arm leg-spinner Amit Mishra of Delhi Daredevils also achieved a hattrick against Deccan Chargers at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi.
In a match between CSK and KKR, the South African speedster Makhaya Ntini picked a hattrick at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata by dismissing Souarv Ganguly, D Das and David Hussey.
IPL 2009 – The left handed all-rounder Yuvraj Singh claimed a double hat trick in that edition, 1st against RCB while playing for Punjab. The match was held at Durban and he dismissed Robin Uthappa, Mark Boucher and Jacques Kallis and 2nd against Deccan Chargers in a match which was held in Johannesburg and became 1st bowler to have 2 hat tricks in his name.
The current Indian opener Rohit Sharma who also bowled part time off spin and used to play for Deccan Chargers also picked a hat-trick against Mumbai Indians and achieved his career best bowling figures of 4/6.
IPL 2010 – In this edition only one player Praveen Kumar, the right arm medium pacer claimed a hattrick against Rajasthan Royals while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
IPL 2011 – In this edition also only one player Amit Mishra who represented Deccan Chargers picked a hattrick against Kings XI Punjab at the Dharamsala Stadium. This was his second hattrick in IPL history.
IPL 2012 – Ajit Chandila of Rajasthan Royals picked a hattrick against Pune Warriors India at the Jaipur stadium by taking 2 wickets in the first over of the innings and third wicket in the 3rd over.
IPL 2013 – Sunil Narine, the mystery spinner of KKR claimed a hattrick against Punjab at Mohali.
Amit Mishra who represented Sunrisers Hyderabad picked his 3rd IPL hattrick against Pune Warriors India at Pune with the bowling figures of 4/19 in that match. He became the 1st and the only bowler to claim 3 hat tricks in IPL history.
IPL 2014- Pravin Tambe of Rajasthan royals achieved a hattrick against KKR in Ahmedabad by dismissing Manish Pandey, Yusuf Pathan and Ryan Ten Doeschate.
Shane Watson, the Australian all rounder also picked a hattrick against Sunrisers Hyderabad while playing for Rajasthan Royals in Ahmedabad.
IPL 2016 – Axar Patel, the left arm off-spinner picked a hattrick against Gujarat Lions by dismissing DJ Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja and Dinesh Karthik at Rajkot.
IPL 2017- Andrew Tye (Gujarat Lions V/s Rising Pune Supergiants), Samuel Badree ( RCB v/s Mumbai Indians) and Jaydev Unadkat (Rajasthan Royals v/s Sunrisers Hyderabad) were the three players who picked a hattrick.
IPL 2019 – Sam Curran, the left arm pacer claimed a hattrick against Delhi Capitals while playing for Punjab at Mohali and achieved bowling figures of 4/11.
Shreyas Gopal, the right arm leg spinner who played for Rajasthan Royals also picked a hattrick against RCB by dismissing Virat Kohli, AB De villiers and Marcus Stoinis.
IPL 2021 – The latest player to claim a hattrick is Harshal Patel, the right arm medium fast bowler who is known for his variations. In the match against Mumbai Indians, he dismissed Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard and Rahul Chahar to secure RCB a victory.
