5) England (226/5 vs South Africa)

This time England is at the number 5th position for creating the same record of the highest run chase in T20I. This is their 2nd highest run chase in the T20 internationals against South Africa at Centurion on 16 Feb 2020. While batting first, African batsmen started well and maintained the run rate of above 10 throughout the inning and thus reached a total of 222. Temba Bavuma’s 49 and Heinrich Klaasen’s 66 runs helped them to set a big target for England. On the other side, Jos Buttler, Jonny Bairstow, and Eoin Morgan played very firmly and achieved the target in 19.1 overs. They proved why they are best cricket playing nation.

4)England (230/8 vs South Africa)

England is again at the number 4th position for the highest run chase in T20 internationals against South Africa at Mumbai on 18 Mar 2016. While batting first, Hashim Amla and Quinton de Kock gave a good start and built up 96 runs in pairs for the 1st wicket. In addition, J P Duminy also smashed unbeaten 54 runs that caused South Africa to cross 200+ marks and set a total of 230 runs for England. In the chase, England’s batsmen played aggressively in the starting and dominated the opposition. Good start from the openers and Joe Root’s 83 runs helped them to get the target very easily.

3)West Indies (236/6 vs South Africa)
3rd position goes to Windies in the list after their for the highest run chase in T20 international cricket against South Africa at Johannesburg on 11 Jan 2015. While batting first, South Africa did not start well and lost 2 early wickets. But with the help of Faf du Plessis’s 119 from 56 balls, Africa had successfully put a total of 231 runs on the scoreboard. On the other hand, West Indies’s powerful hitter Chris Gayle smashed 90 runs from 41 balls in his own style in the second inning. Marlon Samuels’s knock of 60 runs helped them to achieve the target very comfortably.

2)Australia (245/5 vs New Zealand)


Australia is sitting 2nd at the highest run chase in T20I against New Zealand at Auckland on 16 Feb 2018. It was the T20 match of the Trans-Tasman Twenty20 Tri-Series in which New Zealand batsman Martin Guptill struck a century (105) from just 54 balls. Guptill and Colin Munro made 132 runs for the 1st wicket partnership that helped them to set a target of 244 runs. Afterward Australian opener David Warner and D’Arcy Short came on the pitch to chase the target, they played extremely well and scored 121 runs for the 1st wicket partnership. This partnership and awesome innings of Short helped them to chase the highest target in the history of T20. D’Arcy Short was given the Man of the Match title for his match-winning 76 runs.

1) South Africa (259/4 vs West Indies)
South Africa shocked the cricket fiternity when they chased down 259 with 7 balls to spare thanks to maiden century of Quinton De Kock in 43 balls where they beat down West Indies in Centurion . Post an century by Johnson Charles which was quickest by an West Indies player, the visitors made a comeback of sorts by dismissing Rossouw, Hendricks and Miller in fairly quick succession, skipper Aiden Markram continued the carnage to lead his side to a memorable win.
