The ongoing 2024 T20 world cup is seeing participation from lot of teams. While there are teams like Uganda, Papua New Guinea, Scotland, Afghanistan players are also out representing their country which has grown through some difficult times in the recent times.

Afghanistan has qualified for the super 8 stage, but have not really arrived on the big stage till the todays encounter when they completely dismantled Kangaroos by a win of 21 runs.

Afghanistan players have lot of players in their swuad who plays in international leagues.

Naveen Ul Haq, Rashid Khan, the veteran Mohammad Nabi, Omarzai and Gulbadin Naib were all featured in this years IPL and the experience of IPL is certainly helping the Afghanistan players big time in the World Cup.

Gulbadin Naib in particular ,who always looks great on confidence in his skills on the field, took 4 wickets for just 20 runs and completely derailed the Australian chase. Gurbaz who faced some heat with Stoinis in the middle also played a superb knock of 60 runs to set a decent score for Afghanistan in the first half of the innings.

Afghanistan also escaped the Maxwell scare as the hard hitting batsman was caught out at the third man for 59 runs of 41 balls and his wicket put Afghanistan on the top.

With this defeat, Australia will have to win against India to qualify for the semifinals. Mitchell Marsh said in the presentation that this one is tough to digest but they have a must win next game and there is no better team than India to play against.

While there is lot of cricket left in the tournament and both Afghanistan and Australia are in the contention for the semifinal, fans in Afghanistan and specially in India are finding this victory sweet to lessen the pain of the wounds of the final last year.
