Andrew Strauss: The former England captain and director of cricket was regarded as one
of the most successful and respected leaders of his generation. In 2003, he married Ruth
McDonald, with whom he had two kids, Sam and Luca. Ruth was diagnosed with a rare
form of lung cancer during the Ashes series in Australia in December 2017.

Andrew stood down from his position at the ECB in October 2018 to care for her. Ruth died in Australia,
her birthplace, in December 2018 at the age of 46, accompanied by her family.

Ruth was described as “loving, caring, and passionately protective” of her family by Andrew, who
plans to establish a foundation to assist others impacted by the condition.

Glenn McGrath: Jane McGrath, the wife of former Australian cricketer Glenn McGrath
died on June 22, 2008, as a consequence of complications following surgery after battling
breast, hip, and brain cancer.

Glenn and Jane had two children together, and after Jane died, Glenn founded the McGrath Foundation in her honor to help breast cancer patients
and their families.

Wasim Akram: Former Pakistani cricket captain Wasim Akram tragically lost his wife,
Huma Akram, in 2009. Huma, a licenced physician, died at the age of 42 from issues
involving her kidneys and heart.

Tahmoor and Akbar, the couple’s two kids, were born.Unfortunately, Huma’s problems led to her death in Chennai.Since then, Wasim Akram has wed again and had three kids. His autobiography “Sultan: A Memoir” also details his emotional journey.

David Bairstow: Janet Bairstow, the late wife of former England wicketkeeper David
