Steve Tikolo was one of the prominent cricketer of Kenya. He scored the most runs for Kenya and also holds the record for second most wickets in internationals for his team.
One of the greatest achievement he achieved in is lifetime, was taking Kenya to semifinal against India in 2003 ICC World Cup.
Born in a cricketing family, where everyone used to play his cricket, his elder brother being the former captain of Kenya Cricket, Steve Tikolo had cricket in his blood and he did no injustice to the in born talent he had.
Lets look at the some of the best performances of Steve Tikolo in international cricket :-
1)Against WestIndies in 2002 ICC Champions Trophy :- Chasing 262 runs against West Indies, Kenya Captain Steve Tikolo played an impressive innings of 93 runs from just 91 balls coming at number 3.
The next high score for Kenya was Brijal Patel 35 runs from 63 balls and Steve Tikolo tried very hard to sail the ship alone but fell short by 29 runs.
2)Against Zimbabwe, 2006 – Once again Steve Tikolo was robbed of a much deserved century as he made 98 runs in mere 83 balls with 15 fours to take Kenya to a competitive total of 284 runs which was more than enough for Zimbabwe as they were bundled up on 205 runs.
3)Against India – It was the time for Steve Tikolo to show his all round abilities as India faced Kenya in Coca-Cola triangular series in 1998.
Batting first Kenya made 265 runs with a good innnings from Maurice Odumbe who was later banned because of fixing charges.
Chasing 265, Indian team which consists of Sachin, Azhruddin, Dravid, Robin Singh could only managed 196 runs.
Steve Tikolo took 3 wickets for 29 and Maurice Odumbe helped him with his 3 wickets too.
4) Against Zimbabwe, 2008, Tri Nation tournament :-Steve Tikolo finally had a century to his name as he made 102 quickfire runs from 99 balls and took Kenya to 285 runs, but Zimbabwe only managed to score 190 runs.
