Tillakaratne Dilshan – The swashbuckling Srilankan opening batter who played 330 ODIs and 87 test matches along with 80 T20Is has been one of the consistent players whose career spanned for over 10 years. The 2011 World Cup was the highlight of his career when he scored more than 500 runs and also took 8 wickets. In the 2015 World Cup in a match against Australia he hit six fours in an over by Mitchell Johnson in powerplay. Though Srilanka couldn’t win the match as they were chasing a mammoth total of 377.
Ramnaresh Sarwan – The former West Indian wicket-keeper batsman who was also the captain for a brief period was a talented and technically sound batsman. He became the youngest West Indian player at the age of 28 to score 5000 runs in test matches. In 2006 in a test match against India, Sarwan hit Munaf Patel for six boundaries in an over. Though 7 balls were bowled in that over but Munaf was lucky to get away with one extra delivery.
Sandeep Patil – The former Indian batter who represented India in 29 tests and 45 ODIs had a short but impactful career. He was also part of the 83′ World Cup winning squad. He hit six fours against England in a test match. He was a stroke player and played a variety of strokes mostly in the off side in that over. India were 173/ 6 when he came to bat but his innings of 129 which included this rare feat helped India to put up a fighting total against the mighty England. In 2003 he coached the Kenya team which qualified for semifinals in 2003 World Cup.He later also became the Chairman of Selection Committee of the National team in 2012.
Chris Gayle – The ‘Universe Boss’ who is one of the fear mongering batsmen among bowlers, has several records in his name. Though he is mostly identified for his batting in the white ball format, he has an impressive record in the longer format as well. He has played over 100 test matches and has 22 centuries along with a triple century as well. In a test match against England in 2004, Gayle smashed Matthew Hogward for six fours in an over. Though the West Indies were in pretty bad situation as there wickets fell like a pack of cards but Gayle’s innings was one thing to cheer for the West Indians.
Ajinkya Rahane – The test specialist of the Indian team is majorly known for his solid and steady batting in the tough conditions. Being a technically sound and elegant stroke player he is a treat to watch when in full flow. He is not known for power hitting or scoring runs at a quick rate but he too has hit 6 fours in an over. While playing for Rajasthan Royals in 2012 IPL in a match against RCB he opened the batting and smashed Sreenath Aravind for 6 boundaries in the 13th over. He went on to score a century in that match and played his best IPL innings. He was awarded the Man of the Match award also for his brilliant innings.
