Ali Khan – ICC has rule if a person gets 4 demerit points in 24 months, he will automatically be banned for some matches. In the World Cup qualifier match played on 4 April 2023, Ali khan was found to breach article 2.5 of ICC Code of Conduct and his previous 3 demerit points from a T20I game against Bermuda in November 2021 during the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier Americas Final in Antigua, meant he was now eligible for match suspension.
He was banned for 2 matches.
Stuart Law – In 2018, WestIndies coach Stuart Law was also given 2 match ban as his demerit points accumulated to 4 in 24 months period.
The Australian was found guilty of breaching Level 2 Article 2.7 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “Public criticism of, or inappropriate comment in relation to an incident occurring in an International Match or any Player, Player Support Personnel, Match Official or team participating in any International Match, irrespective of when such criticism or inappropriate comment is made.”
Rabada – Playing against Australia in 2018, Rabada was given 3 demerit points for violation of level 2 International Cricket Council (ICC) Code of Conduct offence of ‘inappropriate and deliberate physical contact with a player.
With 8 demerit points in 24 months, he was overqualified by 4 points to get a 2 match suspension.
Harmanpreet Kaur – The latest addition to the list is Harmanpreet Kaur who has been given 2 match suspension is the latest addition to this unwanted list.
Kaur, the Indian women cricket team captain, wanted the umpires to also join the post match presentation for their good umpiring in the match.
ICC took a note of that, and made sure the Indian captain has to watch the match outside of the circle.
Cricket fraternity has given their opinions on this incident with most of them criticizing Harmanpreet Kaur to not repeat this kind of behaviour in future.
