5) JM Gregory
The former Australian & New South Wales bowler Jack Gregory made into the list of fastest hundred in test cricket. Known for his lethal pace bowling, Gregory achieved this record against South Africa where he scored hundred in 67 balls and in 70 minutes which was the fastest at that time in terms of balls & time taken to complete the century. He’s part of many such records and being a bowler this achievement surely he had ranked top in his cricketing career.
4) Adam Gilchrist
The most attacking wicket keeper from the Australia , Adam Gilchrist is no doubt among the most successful wicket keeper from Australia and World cricket and batting lower down the order in his test cricket for majority of it’s career, Adam Gilchrist achieved this feat at Perth in 2006 against England. He was attacking from the very first ball and took only 57 balls to score the fastest century by an Australia. He hit 12 fours & 4 sixes and scored 102 runs .
3) Misbah-ul-Haq
The former Pakistan’s captain Misbah-ul-Haq has been an great ambassador of the game for pakistan. Averaging around 46+ in test cricket, Misbah-ul-Haq has scored 5000+ runs and helped the team to recover from tricky situations many time. One such innings came against Australia in Abu Dhabi where he scored a hundred in 56 balls that includes 11 fours & 5 sixes. It also turned out to be a special test match as he scored century in both the innings and that helped Pakistan to defeat Australia by a huge margin.
2) Sir Viv Richards
80’s were the era of west Indies cricket and be it batter or bowler, it’s always difficult for opposition to capitalise the Windies. When England toured West Indies back in 1985, Sir viv Richards played a marathon knock of 110 runs in 58 balls with 7 fours & 7 sixes. which is so far the second fastest century in test cricket(56balls). Sir Viv has always been known for his flamboyant batting and aggressive approach in the field and this innings is one such example. It will be interesting to see who will break the records and get the honor of beating the record of Sir Viv Richards.
1) Brendon McCullum
Brendon McCullum is by far the fastest player to score ton in test cricket . He achieved this feat against Australia in 2016 at Christchurch. He took 54 balls to score the century and scored 145 in 79 balls with 21 fours & 7 sixes. More interestingly He broke the record of fastest hundred in test in his very last match and so far the record is unbreakable.
With numerous player coming into the scene and player getting more attacking, the day is not so far where we can see these records getting broken and if it happens in test cricket, it’s quite amazing for cricket fans
