With an IMDB rating of 8.8 and 92% on rotten tomatoes, Kantara Chapter 1 which is set centuries before the franchise first installment Kantara which was released in 2022, is making huge waves in India and abroad. The film is a prequel set in coastal Karnataka which tells the origin story of the local spirits Panjurli and Guliga, a clash between a tribe and a ruling king.
While the film has gathered positive reviews from various celebrities, some cricketers have also praised the movie, specially KL Rahul and Varun Chakaravarthy.
KL Rahul said he was “blown away by the magic” of Kantara: Chapter 1—calling it “all heart” and saying it beautifully represents the people and the belief of Mangaluru.
Varun also has praised the director and actor Rishabh Shetty. Varun Chakravarthy wrote “#Kantara has to be one of the best representations of the many diverse and intricate cultures of our Indian land… Fantastic and mind-blowing!!! @shetty_rishab.”
The cricket recently attended the CEAT cricket awards ceremony as well.

As for India’s next cricketing fixture, India is scheduled to play 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is with the first clash starting as early as on 18th October in Perth against Kangaroos.
