Canada has been on the rise in Cricket. They defeated Bermuda by 39 runs in ICC Mens T20 World Cup American Region Final in 2023 to qualify for ICC Mens T20 World Cup.
American Region Final saw participation from 4 teams, Bermuda, Canada and Panama.
While this is about Canada Men’s Cricket team, Women cricket has also been on the rise in Canada. After Canada Men’s team becoming associate member of the ICC as early as in 1968, their Women’s team made its international debut in 2006.
While the team consists of most of native Canadian players, lets look at some of the Indian origin Women who represented Canada Women’s Cricket at the highest level:-
1)Kamna Mirchandani :-

Kamna Mirchandani was the former Canada Women Cricket Captain who captained Canada in 2021 in ICC Mens T20 World Cup American Region Qualifier.
An accoustic guitar enthausiastic, Kamna came in 2009 to do masters. After that she has been working full time, even started a marketing company and currently works as Director of Marketing.
2)Rabbjyot Rajput :-
The 16 year old debuted for Canada against Argentina last year.
Born in Delhi in 2008. Rabbjyot parents shifted to Canada in 2017 and soon after landing in Canada, Rabjyot started playing in Ontario Cricket academy.
Debuting at such a young age, all the Indian and Canadian fans have only one thing to say to her -” GO, RABBY GO !!”
3)Sonali Vig:
Debuted at the age of 46, Sonali Vig has been inspiration for Women cricketers all around the World.
After playing for Punjab U-19, senior Punjab team, North Zone as allrounder, Sonali got a job in Railways in Mumbai and started playing for WestZone. He last played for Boards president XI against Newzealand.
Then she became the selector for u-19 Mumbai girls and then in 2016 she shifted to Canada.
In Canada she started with coaching in Vancover and later started playing cricket with boys.
She played all the 5 matches of 20 World Cup Qualifiers in 2021 and now she is taking cricket coaching full time.
4) Mukhwinder Gill :-
Mukhwinder used to play Cricket in India, but she took a 7 years of gap from cricket after starting cricket at the age of 17.
In 2013 she moved to Canada. In 2021, after suffering from Covid she finally decided to improve her fitness and start playing cricket again. She joined a cricket club in the starting of 2021 and in October 2021 she was playing for ICC America Regional Qualifier.
5) Divya Saxena :-
Divya Saxena started playing for Kenya Women’s team and she debuted against Zimbabwe at just the age of 13 years and 84 days.
In October 2021, she was named vice captain for ICC America Regional Qualifiers and then debuted against Argentina on October 21, 2021.
She is an all rounder.
6) Monali Patel :-

Monali Patel has also Kenyian roots as she started playing in Kenya. She represented Canada at a young age of 17 and continued doing so for 15 amazing years.
As of now, she has taken Cricket Coaching after completing level 3 from cricket Australia and now working as Master Educator – Americas at International Cricket Council.
