5 reasons why Mayank Yadav is next big thing in Indian cricket and will not be next Umran Malik

Mayank Yadav has stellar start to his IPL career. The speed star from Delhi was bought by Lucknow Super Giants at tender age of 19 in IPL 2022 auction.

He had played Vijay Hazare for his home team then for the 2021-2022 season and Lucknow supergiants talent scouts knew that they have found a solid fast bowler when they saw the delhi pacer bowling sharp bouncers in the List A games.

After spending two years with Lucknow Super Giants and missing out last year because of injuries, its finally this year the West Delhi boy who practiced in famous Sonnet club of Delhi which has produced cricketers like Rishbah Pant too, got a chance to throw his rocket missiles in the middle.

While some will say its too early to say he has in him to play for India but here we list 5 reasons which justifies that he is the next big thing in Indian cricket and will not turn up like Umran Malik.

1)The Action :- Mayank Yadav has a very closed action. That means the hands never gets too far from the body which doesn’t result in decreased pace. His run up is just at the right speed and with his closed action the bowl is directly coming at you.

Jofra archer also had that kind of action in which as a batter its very difficult to play as the bowl is just coming towards you at every moment.

Its his action that has all the elements. He can’t be hit for many runs on any pitch. Unlike Umran Malik, who has less height and more orthodox action with which he cant hit the lengths at will and if he is able to hit the length consistently the bowl is not directly coming towards you which is the case with Mayank Yadav.

2)Height :- There have been bowlers who have great success despite not being the tallest.

Trent Boult, Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar are not known for their height but all had a great career so far. Even the great Malcom Marshall also was only 5 feet 11 inches.

But height helps if the action is right.

With a great action like of Mayank Yadav, his tall frame of 6 feet 1 inches sits right with his action.

With such a height, he can release the ball from a higher point and can also hit the deck more consistently.

3)Age :- The kid is only 21 and is bowling at 156. A fast bowler starts coming to the peak around the age of 25 is when the human muscles fully develops in shape.

Mayank Yadav was lean in childhood but his lanky frame has only helped him.

With proper nutrition and fitness regime he is lot stronger now and with age on his side, he can rectify some injury prone elements in his action in a year or two and thus be more available to play the Indian domestic season and then the IPL.

4)Attitude :- With whatever is seen in the matches he has played, he looks a confident guy who is not afraid to give an eye to the batsman.

Having said that, he doesn’t look over the top unnecessarily aggressive and looks like he is grounded, with a good head on his shoulder and knows he has in him to represent India in blue.

5)IPL experience :- Though his idol is Dale Steyn, he can discuss his bowling with another South African star bowler who used to bowl long spells with Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel. He has good captain also in form of KL Rahul who will certainly guide him to manage his workload and handle the pressure well.

Mayank Yadav has all the elements to become a regular feature in Indian team. Indian team currently features Bumrah, Siraj, with Mohammad Shami as third seamer.

Siraj can be deadly on his day but he certainly had some bad outings from time to time and Shami also does not feature regularly in playing 11.

We will be soon seeing Mayank Yadav be the deputy partner of Bumrah. India now also have Bengal pacer Akash Deep who also have good elements in his action.

Though it looks like a very far fetched thing as of now, but in cricket things move fast.

If you have the right elements in you, it takes only few matches to get a call to Indian team and Mayank Yadav certainly could not have come at more right time with World T20 in June.
