3 reasons why Siraj should be in India’s T20I team

Siraj was not part of 2024 T20I World Cup and he was also not part of Asia cup. While India did manage to win both the tournaments, the bowlers who were picked in his place, didn’t do well. Here we look at 3 reasons, why Siraj should be back in the T20I internationals:

1)Rawness: While India has a long list of fast bowlers in the form of Akash Deep, Arshdeep, Rana, and Prasidh Krishna, none of them matches the fire Siraj carries in him. It is that raw element in his bowling that makes him a tad better than other fast bowlers in India after Bumrah. His heroic performances in the England Tests speak to his calibre, and that rawness is needed even in the shortest format of the game.

2)Attitude: Mohammed Siraj plays like every ball matters. He gives 100 percent and then finds a little more when the game is tight. He runs in hard, hits the pitch, and goes again even if the last over hurt. That is what you want in crunch games. In a World Cup final, that extra effort can be the difference between winning and losing.

3)Lean buildup and fitness: Unlike the other fast bowlers in Indian team and in the world, Siraj is not much of a gym goer and he has that natural build to bowl fast. He is less prone to injuries than other fast bowlers with big biceps and heavy buildup. That lean physique allows him to play all forms of cricket from Test Cricket to shortest format of the game.
