India has finally entered the semifinal of the World T20 2026. Though the journey has not been smooth, as they had a hard time against the familiar opponent South Africa, but India finally found their way at Eden Gardens in the match against the West Indies.
While India managed to win two out of their 3 matches in Super-8, England has been untouched in Super 8 and has defeated all their opponents so far. India had a mixed world cup so far, and before going on to semi-final, they have some things to look over. Here they are:
1) Dropping Abhishek Sharma or not: The player who was India’s trump card coming into the World Cup has been India’s weakest link so far. The left handed batsman from the Punjab was looking untouchable just before the World Cup, hitting sixes at will. but such is the game of cricket, he is finding it difficult to get his timing right in the middle so far. The confidence and spirit are also not what they were before the World Cup, and Abhishek is not just having hard time batting, he has also dropped a few sitters.
The only option India have is to play Rinku Singh and let Ishan Kishan play in place of Abhishek Sharma. India certainly have too many bowlers in the squad and a player like Jitesh Sharma could have come handy in this situation.
2)Siraj in, Arshdeep out: Siraj has only played one match so far in the tournament with 3 wickets for 29 in his 4 overs against USA. While he is not been regular part of the Indian team squad in limiter overs cricket lately, but he is the man for big matches, and Indian captain and coach have some sort of task up their sleeves on who gets featured in the final playing 11 on 5th of March at Wankhede.
3)Varun Chakrawarthy: Varun also had a mixed sort of World Cup so far and his economy has been on the higher side this time. Part of the reason being is he is bowling more overs upfront in the powerplay. Well, there is no second guess to he is Indian captain go to bowler when India need wickets, but holding him for the end of the innings could do India no wrong as Varun is simply not that easy to hit at the end of innings. Some more time on the field on the match day before bowling his first over will also calm his nerves down and will give him more time on how he wants to go about his business in the very important clash.
Well for England, they will be counting on Will Jacks and their never ending batting line to give fans a thriller on Thursday.
